Rocking Chairs

Rocking chairs are a type of chair with two curved bands (also known as rockers) attached to the bottom of the legs, and connecting the legs on each side to each other. The rockers contact the floor at only two points, giving the user of the chair the ability to rock back and forth by shifting their weight or pushing lightly with their feet.

Rocking chairs

Rocking chairs are extremely comfortable and relaxing. In general, the seat is put automatically in the position in which the centre of gravity is aligned with the two contact points, thus limiting the efforts of body movement.

Characteristics of rocking chairs

Because of its design, the rocking chairs differ from a common chair because of its curved base instead of legs, which allows the movement of the chair. The support bands prevent it from tilting excessively.

Rocking is very relaxing and is therefore an excellent option to calm a baby by rocking back and forth while holding the baby in your arms. It is also perfect for breastfeeding.

A rocking chair usually has a high back to rest the head. They can also have armrests and/or footrests, which makes the rocking chair even more comfortable.

Initially, this type of chair was made of wood, although at SuperStudio we have a collection rocking chairs made of all kind of materials, as well as innovative designs and shapes that are way beyond the traditional wooden chairs with two curved bands instead of legs.

Rocking chairs are classic chairs which can be used both indoor and outdoor. It easily adapts to any space and is suitable for any person of any age. There are models available for every user, size or style. A rocking chair provides personality as decoration for your bedroom, dining room, patio or any other spot where you like to relax.
